打探情報 What’s the skinny，跟胖瘦無關！
全公司上下都對業務部新來的經理充滿好奇，有人私下向秘書打聽”What’s the skinny ?”
Skinny在這裡和胖瘦沒有關係，這可不是在向人打聽一個瘦子。
先來看skinny這個字。它多是當形容詞「皮包骨的」，但它亦可當名詞，指「內部消息、機密情報」，據傳過去軍隊會用一種薄紙張來印軍事資料，故有了skinny的名詞用法。
“Get the skinny”是常見的搭配。例如：
I got the skinny from the boss about the new project.

What’s the lowdown? 有何消息？
說明：lowdown相當於information（資訊、消息），老外經常會用get the lowdown on sb/sth表示「取得某人或某事的詳細資料」。
例：I need to get the lowdown on him before I can decide whether to hire him or not. 我必須先取得他的詳細資料才能決定是否雇用他。
What’s the scoop? 有何內幕？
說明：scoop是「一勺、勺子」，口語上則是指新聞的「獨家消息、搶先報導」，當動詞時表示「搶在…之前」。
例： If you want to get the scoop, ask Susan. 如果你想得到獨家消息，去問Susan。
