Despite being less polished and more earnest than its K-pop contemporaries, the South Korean boy band Beyond The Scene, BTS for short, has defied all expectations and taken the world by storm. The band has twice topped American album charts, nabbed the Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist two years running, and amassed billions of hits on YouTube with its music videos. Riding this recent wave of success, the seven members of BTS are proving outsiders can make good and become international superstars in their own right.
