Color Me “Living Coral”: Pantone’s Color of the Year 時尚指標 獨領風騷! How do you sum up a year with a single color? Let the color experts at Pantone decide. 你如何用一個顏色定義一整年?就交由色彩權威「彩通」決定吧。
For the past 19 years, a group of color experts at the Pantone Color Institute◆, a unit of the color standards company Pantone, have selected a color of the year. They choose it based on what they think represents the biggest global trends of the year. By analyzing color influences from culture, travel, entertainment, and social patterns, a color is chosen that best communicates the year’s overall mood. Last year, Pantone chose “Ultra Violet,” inspired by the desire to look to the stars and by the renewed popularity of ’80s music artists like David Bowie, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix. “Greenery” was picked for 2017 to symbolize new beginnings and a reconnection with nature. In 2016, for the first time ever, two shades were selected—“Rose Quartz” and “Serenity”—which reflected peace and connection. For 2019’s Color of the Year, Pantone chose “Living Coral.” The comforting shade of peachy-orange shows the warmth of coral reefs◆. Besides, it reminds us that the environment is the most pressing issue of our time because coral reefs may quickly disappear around the world.
